Recent Trips
I have been extremely busy guiding this year and have had little time to post. The clutch went out on my 4runner and now Im down from work for a couple days so I thought I would catch up on my blog and post some pictures as well. This summer has been REALLY good for fishing on the front range. With the exception of the fires that torched Colorado Springs, and the Cache la Poudre Canyon, everything has been fishing great. The Big Thompson has been fishing well in the mornings as of late, but the water temps in the afternoons have been reaching the mid to upper 60's which is bad for the fish and could kill them if fought too hard or too long. Boulder creek has been fishing well also as the grey drakes are tapering off and the green drakes start hatching fishing should continue to improve as well as the hopper fishing. Clear creek still has plenty of water and the hopper fishing just gets better and better. I have also done quite a few trips to Rocky Mountain National Park and I will now post some pictures from the park trips I have done recently.

Rocky Mtn. Team USA Regional Qualifier
I am heading out today to fish the Rocky Mtn Regional in Basalt CO this weekend. with 35 Competitors this should be a great comp as it is the biggest to date this year. Ill be on the Roaring fork and the Frying Pan rivers as well as Ruedi Res. I made a bomber trip over there last friday as I had never fished the fork before and let me tell you it did not disappoint!
These are only a few of the fish I caught. As you can see the water was high and muddy from the low altitude snow melt. I fished with good friend Ben Mcgee and got some good intel on the waters for myself and my teammates. I will try to keep my blog updated throughout the comp, but I expect that I will post a full report when I return.

Performance Flies
I just got named to the Performance Flies Pro Staff. This is an exciting opportunity for me. I have been using Kevin's products for 4 years now and was one of if not the first to fish the Dohiku hooks in the United States. They are great products and I look forward to helping in anyway I can.

Hoppers in March
I have been fishing everyday this week (since turning 30 on sat) and needless to say, the fishing on the front range is off the hook right now. Baetis nymphs and dries have been producing the most fish, but there are also caddis present as well as little black stones and HOPPERS! Yes I said it. Hoppers. Fishing Clear Creek today was quite interesting being March 30th with hoppers flying around. Fish weren't keying on them, but they are present. Should be a great weekend to get out and fish. Heading to the Roaring Fork on Sunday for some practice for the Basalt Comp in May.

Photo Blog.......Western Regional
The Truckee River in Reno had some pretty AMAZING fish in it. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to get out there and fish and spend some time with guys I haven't seen in quite a while. A special thanks goes out to Doug Ouellette and the Truckee River Fly fishers for hosting this event. It was well run and meeting several of the controllers and other club members was a great experience. I hope to see some of you all again.
